Position Summary:
The Housekeeper/Laundry Aide Reports Directly to: Maintenance Director

Is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This individual ensures that resident rooms, common areas, and facility workspaces are cleaned regularly and meet facility and regulatory standards. The Housekeeper contributes to the overall comfort and quality of life for residents by providing dependable and respectful housekeeping services in a senior care setting.

Qualifications:
 
The Housekeeper shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age, have a criminal clearance prior to presence in the facility, and possess a high school diploma or equivalent (or demonstrated ability to perform required tasks). The Housekeeper will also have passed a physical and have a chest x-ray (or an intradermal test) performed by a physician within the prior six months of employment. The physician’s report shall indicate physical qualification to perform duties and no health conditions that would create a hazard to self, staff, or residents.
 
The other requirements of the Housekeeper are:
1. Ability to understand and follow instructions related to cleaning schedules, infection control, and safety.
2. Experience in housekeeping or janitorial services, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting.
3. Knowledge of safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate compassion and respect for elderly residents.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 6. Good character and continuing reputation of reliability and personal integrity.
 
Basic First Aid certification is preferred. Physical ability to perform housekeeping tasks, including lifting up to 30 lbs., bending, stooping, standing for long periods, and operating cleaning equipment, is essential. The Housekeeper must also be able to communicate effectively with residents, staff, and supervisors. 
 
The Housekeeper shall have a criminal record clearance prior to presence in the facility. The Housekeeper will have a TB test clearance within 7 days of employment and the health screening completed within 7 days of employment. Job Description – Housekeeping
Reports Directly to: Maintenance Supervisor 

Responsibilities
• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas according to facility protocols.
• Change bed linens and make beds in resident rooms.
• Dust, vacuum, mop floors, and empty trash receptacles throughout the facility.
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly to support infection control practices.
• Ensure hallways and walkways remain free of clutter and tripping hazards.
• Follow all safety and infection control procedures, including proper use of PPE.
• Handle resident belongings with care and report any lost or damaged items.
• Replenish restroom supplies and housekeeping materials as needed.
• Report any maintenance concerns or safety hazards to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Maintenance
  Director.
• Assist with deep cleaning tasks as scheduled or required.
• Work cooperatively with other departments to support resident move-ins and discharges.
• Follow privacy and dignity guidelines when entering resident rooms.
• Maintain housekeeping supply areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Maintenance Director. 

 
MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education:
  • Ability to Speak English
Experience:
  • Prior housekeeping experience preferred.
Mathematical Skills:
  • No applicable
Reasoning Skills:
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions.
Oral/Written Communication Skills:
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions.
Equipment Used :
  • Ability to use standard cleaning equipment, consistent with the position.  
Physical Effort:
