Job Summary
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role supports infection prevention efforts by following established cleaning and sanitation procedures while treating residents with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, dining rooms, and other facility spaces.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and disinfect floors and surfaces.
- Empty trash and replace liners in resident and common areas.
- Clean windows, mirrors, furniture, and fixtures as assigned.
- Replenish restroom and housekeeping supplies.
- Collect, transport, and dispose of waste according to facility policies.
- Follow infection control, safety, and OSHA guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals and contaminated materials.
- Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or safety hazards promptly.
- Respect resident privacy and confidentiality while working in occupied rooms.
- Assist with room setup and cleaning after resident discharge or transfer.
- Maintain housekeeping carts and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other departments to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Perform other housekeeping duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and safe handling procedures.

Physical Requirements

- Work with cleaning chemicals while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
