Employment Type: Part-Time | 15-20 hours per week (potential for more hours as role evolves)

Schedule: 

• Monday through Thursday, 1 or 2pm to 6pm 
• No regular weekend availability required. 
• Occasional flexibility for family events, date nights, or seasonal travel support.

Compensation: $30-$35 per hour

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Able to maintain a smoke-free environment
• Reliable personal transportation and valid driver's license required; mileage reimbursement provided
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred

About Our Family

We're a busy, active family of four based in Austin, TX. Both parents work demanding senior-level roles, primarily from our respective offices, and one parent travels frequently throughout the year. Our two school-age daughters are spirited, social, and involved in extracurricular activities, which keeps our schedule full and our afternoons moving quickly. A lovable Boston Terrier rounds out our family and is very much part of our daily routine.

Our household runs on warmth, structure, and a whole lot of energy. We're a faith-centered, values-driven family who loves being active, spending time outdoors, and making the most of our time together. The 5:00–7:00 PM window is especially important to us as protected family time, and we're looking for someone who can help create the space and structure for us to truly enjoy it.

We love hosting birthday parties, attending school events, and taking on home projects throughout the year. Our daughters are involved in age-appropriate chores, and we're looking for someone who can help reinforce those routines while supporting the overall flow of our household. We value someone who naturally fits into our family's rhythm — someone who takes ownership, brings ideas and initiative, and becomes a trusted partner in managing the details that keep our home running smoothly.

You genuinely enjoy working with children and naturally encourage outdoor play, hands-on activities, and screen-free time. You believe in empowering kids to participate and build independence rather than doing everything for them, and you know how to make those routines feel engaging and fun.

You communicate in a warm, casual, and direct way — you're a texter, not a report-writer — and you're looking for a role where you can become a trusted part of a family's rhythm and build a long-term relationship. Experience matters in this role; we're looking for someone who is seasoned, steady under pressure, and brings genuine reliability, maturity, and ownership to everything they do.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support

• Monday and Tuesday afternoon school pickups and transport to extracurricular activities
• Occasional Wednesday and Thursday school pickups
• After-school supervision: homework support, outdoor time, and managing the afternoon transition
• Involve girls in age-appropriate tidying and chores
• Occasional date night sitting
• Flexibility for rare family travel or special school events (spring break, birthday parties, charity events)

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Kitchen reset: tidy up, unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, prep home before biweekly cleaning crew arrives
• Daily tidying: surfaces, cluttered spots, high-traffic vacuuming
• Seasonal decor swaps (Halloween, Christmas)
• Donation coordination and drop-offs
• Indoor plant care
• Routine maintenance tasks: light bulb, battery, and smoke detector replacements
• Oversee and coordinate with contractors at the main home
• Household calendar support (transitioning from dry-erase board to a digital system)
• Event and appointment coordination: birthday parties, school events, charity events

Laundry & Linens

• Full household laundry: wash, fold, organize, and help the girls put their own laundry away
• Weekly washing of bed linens (all beds) and towels
• Occasional ironing and steaming as needed
• Keep laundry area tidy and well-stocked

Meal Support

• Prepare 2-3 family-friendly meals per week (Monday through Thursday), designed to be heated rather than plated
• Kitchen cleanup following meal prep
• Supplement grocery runs mid-week as needed (family handles the primary weekly shop)
• Follow all dietary needs and restrictions; note that one family member has a nut allergy
• Prep healthy snacks as a bonus when time allows

Inventory & Errands

• Pantry and fridge organization; rotate and check for expiration dates
• Restock household and pantry supplies
• Family errands including dry cleaning, returns, and gift shopping
• Mail and package handling: unbox, put away, and break down boxes

Pet Care

• Occasional pet feeding
• Wipe pet after outdoor bathroom trips
• Help manage the yard and outdoor spaces, including assisting girls with toy pickup

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Occasional ad hoc deep cleans (fridge, pantry organization, etc.)
• Organizational projects with the girls (toys, gear, craft table) done collaboratively, not independently

Outdoor & Property

• Water outdoor garden beds and plants
• Oversee seasonal property maintenance and outdoor space upkeep
