The House Supervisor demonstrates JFK values, leadership and interpersonal skills to oversee the clinical and leadership functions of the Medical Center in the absence of unit managers and senior leadership.
The House Supervisor assures the provision of safe and effective patient care after hours, on weekends and on holidays.
Responsibilities include: • Assessment of all departments to maintain patient flow and assure continuity of care. • Report pertinent information to management and administration. • Supervision of staff in the delivery of care for patients. • Serving as a clinical resource.
The House Supervisor assumes the leadership position for Incident Command until other qualified personnel arrive on-site.
The House Supervisor responds to codes and rapid responses, deploys staff, supplies and/or equipment as needed.
The House Supervisor is responsible for effectively communicating unusual occurrences or complaints for follow-up and intervenes immediately as needed.
The House Supervisor ensures appropriate use of hospital resources by reviewing all patients admitted to the hospital and evaluating appropriateness of admission using approved criteria.
The House Supervisor ensures appropriate patient status (inpatient, observation, ambulatory) to assure appropriate placement and bed usage to maximize patient flow.
