The Performing and Fine Arts Theatre Program is seeking dedicated, engaging, customer service-oriented individuals to join our team as Part-Time Ushers for the Mago Hunt Center. Reporting to the Box Office Manager, these positions are customer service roles that pro-actively engage with patrons by answering questions and offering assistance when needed to create an enjoyable and positive experience for all patrons and guests and ensuring their safety while they visit the Mago Hunt Center. The performance dates for the 2026-2027 season are:
- Fight Call: September 30-October 3 from 6:30-9:30pm, October 4 from 1-4pm
- 'Night, Mother: October 23-24 from 6:30-9:30pm
- Macbeth: November 11-14 & 18-21 from 6:30-9:30pm, November 15 & 22 from 1-4pm
- Underdog: February 17-20 from 6:30-10pm, February 21 from 1-4:30pm
- Spelling Bee: April 7-10 & 14-17 from 6:30-9:30pm, April 11 & 18 from 1-4pm
The front of house team is also expected to attend the final dress rehearsal of the productions (the evening before the opening performance) to acquant themselves with the needs of the production and audience.
This position averages 15-20 hours the week of each production.
Core Duties
- Ensure a safe and enjoyable patron experience by providing the highest standard of customer service. Respond quickly and courteously to all patrons' needs, questions, comments, or concerns;
- Assist in program preparation, including stuffing inserts, distributing programs to aisles, and putting away unused materials at the end of events;
- Assist with the outdoor or indoor lobby set-up and break down;
- Greet all patrons in a warm and welcoming manner;
- Assist patrons in emergency situations;
- Provide assistance with any mobility devices;
- Monitor physical surroundings in the assigned area before and throughout the event for safety, cleanliness, and functionality; notify Box Office Manager of any concerns;
- Read/scan tickets and direct patrons to the appropriate location;
- Answer event and facility questions;
- Observe and enforce all policies, including but not limited to masking, late seating, photography, and food and beverages in the house;
- Monitor door and patron's entry and exit during the performance and assist, as needed;
- Be aware of those patrons who may be causing a disruption, taking pictures, talking or texting, etc. Politely remind patrons to follow necessary COVID-19 protocols as needed, including masking requirements;
- Clear assigned section and pick up discarded programs and inserts, etc., following a performance. Turn in any lost and found items to the box office;
- Pre-show and intermission restroom checks for tidiness and cleanliness and ensure necessary supplies are stocked or replenished
- Other relevant tasks as assigned
