Job Title: House Manager & Family Assistant (with meal prep support)

Location: Herndon, VA 20171

Employment Type: Part-time (15 hours/week)

Schedule:

3 days per week, 5 hours per day.

Days & Hours: Monday plus flexibility to choose the other two days from Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday within the hours of 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Compensation: $28–30/hour

Start Date: ASAP

About Our Family:

We are a busy family of four, with two young children (ages 4 and 1) who keep us on our toes, and a friendly Sheepadoodle who brings lots of joy to our home. Our family is active, and we truly value the time we spend together. We strive to create a home where we can unwind and reconnect after busy days. While both parents work outside the home, we make it a priority to enjoy quality time together whenever we can.

Key Responsibilities:

Household Management & Organization

  • Create and maintain household organization systems
  • Daily resets and prep home for cleaners (1x weekly, Tuesdays)
  • Light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas)
  • Occasional event/holiday/guest prep
  • Unpacking for travel
  • Change water for flowers as needed
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.

Meal Planning & Prep

  • Prep healthy meals (3-4x weekly) and snacks (e.g., rinsed and sliced fruits & vegetables)
  • Prep simple lunches for adults (3-4x weekly)
  • Contribute to grocery list for prepped meals
  • Follow dietary needs/preferences (tree nut allergy, overall healthy diet)
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash/fold/organize laundry
  • Ironing/steaming and special garment care
  • Linen rotation (hand towels)
  • Maintain tidy and well stocked laundry areas

Inventory

  • Manage running household supply lists
  • Breakdown boxes, bringing in packages

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Refresh garage/mudroom/entry
  • Organizational projects (toys/playroom, kids rooms, gear)

Pet Care

  • Walking the dog (1x daily 10-15 minutes)
  • Feeding as needed

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Oversee cleaners/contractors/landscapers/vendors as needed

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Awareness of family calendars (including household schedules)
