House Manager and Family Assistant

Title: House Manager & Family Assistant 

Location: San Francisco, CA 94117

Employment Type: Part-Time, 10–15 hours per week

Schedule:

• Weekday schedule flexible; within the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM
• Availability for flexibility with the family's needs, including periods of more intensive support around travel and projects

Compensation: $45–$55 per hour, based on experience

Start Date: ASAP

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Maintain a smoke-free environment
• Reliable personal transportation and a valid driver's license
• Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, subject to applicable legal accommodations
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain)

About Our Family

We're a fun and active family based in San Francisco. Our home is full of energy, creativity and connection - and we'll be the first to tell you: we thrive in a little organized chaos. Our family includes our two children (ages: 11 & 9) each with their own big personalities, active social lives, and a packed weekly schedule of activities both in and out of the home. One of our newest family members is a young hound mix who's still settling in and growing with us but is bringing plenty of excitement to our household! This school year also brings the transition of a new campus, meaning coordination and logistics are a key part of keeping things running.

One parent works from home and travels for work periodically; the other operates on a flexible consulting schedule. We genuinely value spending time together as a family and we love to travel - whether it's a spontaneous weekend escape or a longer family adventure. We're looking for someone who can hold things together, keep our systems humming and make returning from vacations a breeze.

We have plenty of ideas of how we can make our home more efficient, organized and enjoyable. From creating better systems in the garage and pantry to optimizing closets, storage spaces and household routines - we're looking for someone who enjoys bringing order to busy, well-loved environments. More than anything, we're seeking someone who can transform good ideas into lasting solutions, maintain those systems consistently, and bring a calm, steady presence to a fast-moving household that values warmth, teamwork and connection.

Clear communication is essential to you and you believe the best work happens when expectations are clear, feedback is shared when necessary and everyone feels supported.

Understanding and embracing our family dynamic is the heart of this position. Experience with or a genuine understanding of neurodivergent children is a meaningful bonus. Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Create and maintain household organization systems that the entire family can easily utilize
• Light daily tidying: dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas
• Clothing swaps and coordination of donation drop-offs as needed
• Packing and unpacking support for family travel
• Routine home maintenance tasks: changing batteries, light bulbs, smoke detector checks, etc.

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Occasional deep cleans: fridge, oven, baseboards
• Refresh of garage and entry areas
• Organizational projects for toys, gear, and kids' belongings

Family Support

• Backup pickup and drop-off for school and activities across two campuses, as needed
• Support children in staying organized and ready with gear for their various scheduled activities
• Reinforce organizational systems and life skills with the children in a supportive, empowering way
• Light backup supervision as needed

Laundry & Linens

• Wash, fold, and organize laundry for the full family
• Linen rotation
• Keep laundry areas tidy and well stocked

Inventory & Errands

• Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies (paper products, cleaning items, etc.)
• Put away deliveries and break down boxes as they arrive
• Handle returns, dry cleaning pickups, and miscellaneous errands as needed

Meal Support

• Prep school lunches a couple of times per week for one daughter (vegetarian)
• Cook one family meal per week
• Kitchen cleanup and maintenance following meal prep
• Mindful of dietary needs and preferences across the household

Pet Care

• Feeding and walking the family dog as needed
• Help maintain pet supplies
• Vet and grooming scheduling support
• Bonus: comfort with or interest in supporting ongoing training for a young dog

Vendor & Property Oversight

• Oversee housecleaner and other household vendors
• Research and coordinate repair quotes and home maintenance needs

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

• Travel planning and logistics coordination
• Calendar management using Skylight Calendar to keep household schedules coordinated and visible
• Coordinate appointments and handle scheduling tasks
• Support with light administrative tasks (ex: reimbursements)
