NOW HIRING: HOSTS

SEA STORY SUSHI

Premium All-You-Can-Eat Sushi | Full Service | High Volume | Fast Paced

Sea Story Sushi is looking for polished, organized, and hospitality-driven Hosts to join our front-of-house team.

Inspired by the high-energy dining scenes of Las Vegas and New York City, Sea Story is a premium, full-service, all-you-can-eat Asian dining experience featuring sushi, sashimi, hibachi, ramen, yakitori, appetizers, desserts, cocktails, sake, and more.

Our host team plays a critical role in the operation. This position is much more than greeting guests and showing them to a table. Hosts are responsible for controlling the flow of the restaurant, managing reservations and wait times, communicating with management and servers, and creating a strong first and last impression for every guest.

OPENTABLE EXPERIENCE IS STRONGLY PREFERRED

Sea Story operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, and our host team relies heavily on the OpenTable reservation and guest-management platform.

Ideal candidates should be comfortable using OpenTable or similar reservation systems to:

  • Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists
  • Quote and update accurate wait times
  • Assign and rotate tables appropriately
  • Monitor table status and dining progress
  • Manage reservation notes and guest preferences
  • Confirm, modify, and cancel reservations
  • Handle large-party reservations
  • Communicate seating priorities with management
  • Maintain accurate guest counts and reservation information
  • Recognize VIPs, repeat guests, special occasions, and important reservation notes
  • Help maximize seating efficiency without compromising the guest experience

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Previous host, front desk, reservation, or high-volume restaurant experience preferred
  • OpenTable experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with other reservation platforms may also be considered
  • Must be comfortable learning technology and navigating reservation systems quickly
  • Must be able to remain calm, professional, and organized during extremely busy services
  • Strong communication and guest-service skills
  • Professional phone etiquette
  • Ability to handle multiple guest parties and requests simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately quote wait times and communicate delays professionally
  • Ability to coordinate closely with servers, bussers, managers, and other hosts
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday availability strongly preferred
  • Must be able to stand and move throughout the restaurant for extended periods

THE HOST STAND IS THE CONTROL CENTER

At Sea Story, the host stand controls the pace and organization of the dining room.

Our hosts are expected to understand which tables are available, which tables are finishing, which servers can accept additional guests, where reservations need to be placed, and how each seating decision affects the rest of the restaurant.

During peak periods, you may be managing reservations, walk-ins, a waitlist, phone calls, guest questions, table assignments, and communication with management at the same time.

Successful hosts are confident enough to take control of the front door while remaining warm and welcoming to every guest.

GUEST EXPERIENCE

You are often the first person a guest meets and the last person they see.

We expect our hosts to welcome guests immediately, acknowledge everyone entering the restaurant, maintain a clean and organized entrance, communicate delays professionally, and help resolve concerns before they become problems.

Even when the lobby is full and the restaurant is on a wait, guests should feel that the host team is organized, attentive, and in control.

JOIN SEA STORY
