Vic’s on the River is seeking friendly, polished, and hospitality-driven Hosts to join our Front-of-House Team.
As a Host, you are one of the first and last impressions our guests have of Vic’s on the River. We are looking for individuals who genuinely enjoy interacting with people and understand the importance of making every guest feel welcomed, recognized, and cared for from the moment they arrive.
Our hosts do much more than greet and seat guests. They help manage the flow of the restaurant, reservations, special requests, wait times, and communication between guests, servers, and management.
Responsibilities
As a Host, you will:
- Greet every guest promptly with a warm, professional welcome.
- Create a positive first impression that reflects the hospitality standards of Vic’s on the River.
- Manage reservations, guest information, and table assignments using OpenTable.
- Seat guests according to the reservation book, server rotation, table availability, and direction from management.
- Recognize and communicate special occasions, allergies, accessibility needs, and other important guest information.
- Provide accurate wait times and communicate professionally with waiting guests.
- Answer incoming telephone calls professionally and assist guests with restaurant information and reservations.
- Maintain communication with managers and servers regarding seating, large parties, special requests, and guest concerns.
- Keep the host stand, entrance, lobby, and surrounding guest areas clean, organized, and presentable.
- Assist with regular restroom checks and communicate any cleanliness or maintenance concerns immediately.
- Maintain knowledge of Vic’s dining options, private events, hours of operation, and general restaurant information.
- Be knowledgeable about Savannah’s River Street and surrounding area so you can assist guests with basic questions and recommendations.
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to visit us again.
- Assist fellow team members when needed to provide a seamless guest experience.

- Understand the importance of proper seating rotation and restaurant flow.
- Be dependable, punctual, and ready to work at the scheduled time.
- Maintain a polished appearance and follow Vic’s uniform and grooming standards.
- Be willing to learn about the restaurant, our history, menu, private events, and surrounding Savannah area.
- Work well with hosts, servers, managers, and other members of the team.
- Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer-service experience is preferred, but we are willing to train candidates with the right attitude and commitment to hospitality.
Physical Requirements:
Hosts must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Work in a busy restaurant environment.
- Move throughout multiple areas of the restaurant as needed.
- Bend, reach, and assist with light restaurant duties.
- Communicate clearly with guests and team members in a sometimes fast-paced and noisy environment.
