Job Description
A well-established, hospital-employed hospitalist program is seeking an Internal Medicine residency-trained Nocturnist to join a growing inpatient team in southeast Alabama. This opportunity offers a flexible schedule, strong subspecialty support, and the chance to work within a collaborative inpatient environment serving a diverse patient population.
The nocturnist team works a manageable schedule with individualized shift planning and comprehensive specialist coverage available around the clock.
Schedule- Night shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Minimum of 12 shifts per month
- Flexible scheduling model
- Average nightly census of approximately 9-10 patients per provider
Responsibilities- Provide inpatient coverage for unassigned admissions from the emergency department
- Manage patient transfers and inpatient consultations
- Admit and co-manage critically ill adult patients with intensivist support
- Collaborate with specialists across multiple service lines
- Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and patient management
Practice Environment- 24/7 pulmonary and critical care support
- Continuous subspecialty coverage available

Required Qualifications- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
- Completion of Internal Medicine residency training required
- Eligible for or able to obtain Alabama medical licensure
- Comfortable managing acute inpatient cases in a nocturnist setting
Preferred Qualifications- Prior hospitalist or nocturnist experience preferred
- Experience working in a collaborative inpatient environment
- Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills
