    Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is looking for Social Service Practitioners III. Social Service Practitioners provide assessment, intervention and case management support to individuals; groups, children and/or families with complex health, psychosocial or economic problems. This position requires investigating and/or supporting cases involving neglect, abuse, emotional or behavioral problems, physical/mental disabilities or other health conditions. Cases may frequently involve assisting clients with emergency situations and assessment of risk, safety, and bio-psycho-social welfare.

    Note: This is an Extra-Help position. Successful candidates shall be considered at-will throughout the term of their employment and will not attain status as a regular county employee.

    Located on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Colton, California (50 miles east of Los Angeles). Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit,456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital houses a regional burn center serving four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono and Inyo), a comprehensive stroke center, level I trauma center and a freestanding in-patient behavioral health center. Additionally, ARMC operates five community-based, primary care clinics and over 40 specialty care outpatient services. ARMC is the primary teaching hospital for the adjacently located California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM), the Inland Empires newest medical school.     CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Shift Availability: Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This Extra-Help position requires availability to work weekends and holidays shifts, as well as any assigned shift (Day, Swing, Night, Rotating). Shift differentials are offered for qualifying shifts

    Minimum Requirements

    Social Service Practitioner IIIEducation: A Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.

    Experience: Three (3) of full-time years of experience as a Social Service Practitioner in San Bernardino County or equivalent experience to a Social Service Practitioner in San Bernardino County.

    NOTE: A copy of your MSW degree or an official transcript indicating the degree awarded is required and MUST be submitted with the application.

    Candidates in Final Year of Masters Program: Applications will be accepted from candidates who are within 120 days of completing a qualifying degree provided they meet the minimum requirements for experience at time of application. Job offers may be made contingent upon degree completion; verification of qualifications will be required prior to hire.

    Specific Duties: Hospital Medical Social Workers work independently in a non-traditional social work environment (acute-care hospital setting) as a patient care and medical staff consultant. They provide services to a diversified population of patients in various units throughout the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Please review the following statements which describe specific duties performed by Hospital Medical Social Workers.     • Position requires that I accompany grieving family members to the hospital morgue to view their deceased loved one.
    • Position requires working in areas with routine exposure to infectious materials such as bodily fluids and medical waste.
    • Position requires I work with patients, and the families of patients, in all areas of the hospital. Some of these include the Emergency Room (patients with traumatic injuries such as limb amputations and physical disfigurements, drug overdoses, etc.), Oncology (adult and child cancer patients), Burn Unit (burn victims), Geriatrics (elderly patients), Pediatrics (children), NICU (ill babies), and the Dialysis Clinic.
    • Position requires I work with patients of all age groups (ranging from infants to geriatrics), and their families, with terminal illnesses such as cancer and/or AIDS/HIV.
    • Position requires that I work with hospitalized mentally ill patients.
    • Position requires that I work in a stressful, fast-paced medical facility and that I must adhere to strict time constraints.
