A Hospital Laboratory Director is needed in Nashville, TN to lead laboratory operations for a network-affiliated hospital laboratory that supports acute care services and connects to a broader infrastructure of more than 250 acute and rehab hospitals, physician practices, and surgery centers across multiple divisions.

The role. The Laboratory Director has full oversight of hospital-based laboratory operations, setting and executing department strategies across service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and personnel management. The director ensures the department meets accreditation standards set by CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS, and is responsible for developing and maintaining all related policies and procedures. On the financial side, the director monitors resource utilization, identifies variances, manages vendor and supply contracts in coordination with supply chain guidance, and prepares the Monthly Operating Review report. The director also builds and sustains the laboratory team through consistent hiring practices, competency assessment, coaching, and ongoing performance feedback, while fostering open communication and a culture of continuous improvement informed by input from both internal and external stakeholders.

What we're looking for.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • National certification as a Medical Technologist required
  • Active state laboratory license required (applicable in CA, FL, LA, NV, and TN — required at time of submission)
  • 5 or more years of progressive laboratory management experience in complex laboratory operations required
  • Leadership experience required
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in accordance with applicable local, state, and/or federal law or regulations (medical or religious exemptions considered)
