Description

This is an ongoing, as-needed post to create a pool of applicants. As department needs are identified, this pool will be reviewed periodically to obtain potential candidates.

The Purpose

Responsible for the delivery of appropriate quality landscape maintenance, equipment operation, and landscape construction coursework and lab projects

Examples of Duties

What Youll be Doing

• Provide landscape appropriate instruction both in the classroom as well as outdoor settings
• Create and implement weekly lesson plans
• Assign students to computerized instruction as appropriate
• Engage learners through contextualized, multisensory educational activities
• Support department policies and procedures
• Administer various formal and informal skills assessments
• Record and report accurate student attendance
• Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable state and federal agencies.

Experience

All applicants must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a workplace setting

Skills and the Know-How

Knowledge of equipment usage in a horticulture setting, including skid steerers and tractors, irrigation installation and maintenance, landscape construction, both in structure building as well as earth moving, and landscape maintenance practices. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an instructional team. Ability to relate to persons of diverse backgrounds and experience.

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
