About the Facility
Located in a peaceful mountain valley near Lake Tahoe, this quiet and picturesque 250-acre private farm is looking to add one or two new team members as it moves into a new chapter. The farm is home to approximately 30?40 Arabian horses, including retirees, young horses, and a limited number of foals. After finding great success with an off-site ICSI program, the owners are shifting away from intensive on-farm breeding and foaling and placing an even greater emphasis on providing exceptional lifelong care for their herd.
This is not a show barn, lesson program, riding facility, or commercial training operation. It is a private farm devoted to preserving cherished Arabian bloodlines and keeping its horses healthy, comfortable, and happy. While the area experiences a true winter, the farm is close to Reno and Carson City and offers an unusually peaceful setting for someone who would like to make the ranch their long-term home.
Job Description
This long-established Arabian farm is looking for a dependable, hands-on team member - or working couple - to assist with daily horse care and routine property upkeep. The ideal individual will have solid practical horse knowledge and be comfortable feeding, turning horses in and out, grooming, exercising horses from the ground, administering basic medications or injections, and recognizing signs of colic, illness, or injury. This is not a management position, and this program operates in a collaborative fashion across all members and levels. We are seeking a true horseman/woman who enjoys being around the horses, takes pride in quality work, and is happy contributing as part of a small team.
Mornings are primarily devoted to care of the horses, including feeding, turnout, grooming, bathing, groundwork, use of the walker or round pen, and helping younger horses become comfortable with handling and new experiences. Afternoons may include preparing feed, completing fencing or barn projects, checking water systems, maintaining the property, or simply spending additional time working with and observing the herd. The right person will be proactive, communicate well, and notice what needs to be done without waiting for constant direction. This farm is especially interested in finding someone who wants stability and a genuine long-term home. There are several quality, private on-site housing arrangements suitable for individuals or couples.
