Travel Occupational Therapy Assistant – Home Health

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Weekly Compensation: Up to $1,800 per week, based on experience
Licensure: Active Kansas or Missouri OTA license required

Connected Health Care is partnering with a leading healthcare provider to recruit an experienced Travel Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) for a 13-week contract opportunity in Kansas City, MO. Job Description

The Travel Occupational Therapy Assistant will provide skilled occupational therapy services to patients in a home health setting, helping individuals improve their independence, safety, mobility, and ability to perform activities of daily living.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist
  • Deliver high-quality care to high-acuity home health patients
  • Complete Start of Care (SOC) visits and other required patient evaluations and documentation
  • Perform and assist with OASIS assessments and documentation
  • Manage an assigned patient caseload efficiently and effectively
  • Complete patient re-certifications and ongoing assessments as required
  • Serve as a case manager and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals
  • Provide interventions designed to improve functional mobility, activities of daily living, safety, and independence
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, home safety, adaptive equipment, and strategies for maximizing independence
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, caregivers, and other members of the care team
  • Follow all applicable home health, patient care, and regulatory standards
  • Demonstrate strong time-management skills and the ability to efficiently manage a home health schedule

Occupational Therapy Assistant Requirements

  • Current Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA/COTA) license in Kansas or Missouri
  • Minimum of 1 year of skilled home health experience
  • Must have experience treating high-acuity skilled home health patients
  • Experience must be in skilled home health, not personal care or non-skilled home health
  • Experience with Start of Care (SOC) visits required
  • Experience with OASIS 
  • Previous experience with re-certifications required
  • Previous case management experience required
  • Strong clinical documentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a patient caseload efficiently
  • Active driver's license required
  • Reliable, insured vehicle required
  • Ability to travel to patient homes throughout the assigned service area
  • MatrixCare EMR experience is a plus but is not required
