Classification Title: Home-Delivered Meals Driver (Part Time)

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION

The purpose of this classification is to deliver meals on wheels which is a part of the Aging Program of the Senior Services Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are normal for this position; however, all functions may not be performed in all departments. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Meals will be delivered daily according to a planned route. Delivery will require making frequent stops to drop meals at individual homes; individuals' meals will be delivered to the door of each home. There will also be three satellite drop-off's in addition to the usual route.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license with good driving record. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must possess good customer services skills. May be required to work up to 25 hours per week.

Physical Abilities: Task require the regular and, at times, sustained performed of moderately physical demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (50 pounds).

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors of shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues of signals.. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, wetness, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, or pathogenic substances.
