As a Store Associate at St. Vincent de Paul, you will play an essential role in fulfilling our mission of service through exceptional customer support and dedication. Your responsibilities will include accurately operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, ensuring smooth and efficient transactions for our valued customers. In a fast-paced retail environment, you will also be tasked with merchandise preparation and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming store atmosphere. What we're looking for in a Holmes Thrift Store Associate

To thrive as a Store Associate at St. Vincent de Paul, applicants should possess a high school diploma or GED, along with retail or customer service experience. Familiarity with basic math and computer skills is essential, as you'll be using POS systems and standard office applications daily.

A strong ability to read and follow established procedures is crucial for maintaining store organization and efficiency. Problem-solving skills and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment will set you apart. Respect for the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church is important, as our mission is deeply rooted in these values.

Additionally, candidates must be physically capable of standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and performing various movements such as reaching, grasping, and kneeling. Flexibility in scheduling is also important, as evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and create a welcoming, friendly shopping atmosphere.
• Operate the POS system accurately, processing transactions with proper documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional checkout and sales floor area.
• Handle, bag, and care for merchandise appropriately during checkout.
• Answer phone calls promptly and professionally, providing appropriate assistance.
• Assist with donation and merchandise processing, including sorting, pricing, stocking, and creating appealing displays.
• Monitor and replenish supplies such as shopping bags, hangers, receipt paper, and packaging materials.
• Help keep the store clean, including sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows and doors, and maintaining fixtures.
