Position Title: Wig Build Technician

Department: Wigs, Hair & Makeup

Position Summary

The Wig Build Technician is responsible for building and styling all wigs under supervision of the Shop Manager per designs from the Wig Designer.

Essential Functions

  • Will be required to ventilate, alter, repair, and style wigs
  • Should have working knowledge of hair styles including period, modern, and fantasy.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association, including Covid-19 additions.
  • Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and maintain a safe work environment
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any additional duties and responsibilities assigned

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to ventilate and re-front wigs as well as adding/removing weft.
  • Knowledge of roller sets and hair styling techniques.
  • Knowledge of facial hair styling, preferred.
  • Knowledge of classic marcel.
  • May need to create wig styles over the top of wig cages.
  • Ability to collaborate with the wig team as well as other departments.
  • Ability to listen, take instruction, and work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.

Preferred

  • At least 1 years of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as a Wig Builder or equivalent educational experience.
  • Cosmetology license (Not required)

Housing is provided.

Contract Dates: October 26-November 20, 2026

Salary/Rate: $20 per hour plus overtime, open to negotiation based on experience.
