Hamilton Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic program as an assistant volleyball coach. The ideal candidate will support the head coach in developing student-athletes' skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive and inclusive environment. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about volleyball and committed to mentoring young athletes.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices, drills, and game strategies.
- Provide instruction on volleyball techniques, rules, and sportsmanship to students.
- Help organize and supervise team activities, including games, tournaments, and transportation.
- Monitor and assess the progress of student-athletes, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Communicate effectively with athletes and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and team events.
- Assist in maintaining equipment and ensuring a safe practice and playing environment.
- Attend all scheduled practices, games, and team meetings throughout the season.
- Support the head coach in implementing training programs and conditioning exercises.
- Help with administrative tasks as needed, including record-keeping and reporting.
Requirements
- Previous experience playing or coaching volleyball at the middle school, high school, or collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball techniques, rules, and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, athletes, and parents.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before the season).
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per school board policy.
- Availability to commit to the entire season, including practices, games, and events.
