About the Job:
The Histopathology Operations Specialist I is a core member of the Laboratory Operations Team. This position supports members of the Upstream Laboratory and Pathology functional areas through specimen and data stewardship, data entry, equipment maintenance, and process troubleshooting. Histopathology Operations Specialists may be assigned to work any day the lab is operational.

Bachelor's Degree in biological or life sciences.
Previous experience:
Handling and communicating important information, particularly scientific or technical information.
Closely following verbal and written instructions and operation procedures.
Working within a CLIA or CAP-Certified laboratory.
Familiarity with Anatomy and Physiology, Cancer Biology, Human Biology and/or medical terminology.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, collaboration, and problem solving.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with other departments and colleagues.
History of demonstrated ability to work independently and work in teams.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
Ability to follow written and verbal instruction, particularly with scientific or technical information.
Ability to work in a laboratory environment, in the presence of chemicals and reagents
Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Morrisville, NC is $37,360 - $46,700 per year. The salary range is commensurate with Foundation Medicines compensation practice and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for Foundation Medicine''s benefits.
