Help Shape the Future of Histology

Are you a Histotechnician who enjoys working with tissue and slides—but also wants to be part of something more innovative than a traditional laboratory?

We’re looking for a Histotechnician to join an innovative medical technology company in Westchester County that is transforming the way pathology and histology laboratories operate.

In this role, you’ll combine your hands-on histology expertise with robotics, laboratory automation, and product development. You’ll work directly with engineering and R&D teams to test, evaluate, troubleshoot, and improve next-generation technology designed to make histology workflows more consistent, efficient, and reliable.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands what makes a high-quality tissue section and wants to have a direct impact on the technology being developed to produce it.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform hands-on histology procedures including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation

  • Prepare, handle, and evaluate tissue specimens while maintaining high standards for quality and consistency

  • Examine tissue sections and slides to identify quality issues and determine whether specimens are suitable for downstream analysis

  • Operate and evaluate automated tissue sectioning and laboratory equipment

  • Participate in product testing, validation, and development activities

  • Troubleshoot issues involving tissue preparation, section quality, equipment performance, and laboratory workflows

  • Work closely with engineers and R&D professionals to identify problems and develop practical solutions

  • Provide hands-on feedback about how new technology performs in real-world histology workflows

  • Document test results, observations, procedures, and findings accurately

  • Assist with developing and improving laboratory procedures, work instructions, and SOPs

  • Help evaluate new product features and workflow improvements

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment

  • Maintain laboratory supplies, materials, and equipment

  • Follow applicable laboratory safety, quality, and documentation requirements

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across laboratory operations, engineering, R&D, and product development

  • Take on additional laboratory and product-development projects as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of hands-on histology laboratory experience preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field preferred

  • HT or HTL certification preferred

  • Strong experience with tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation

  • Strong understanding of what makes a high-quality histology section and slide

  • Ability to recognize and troubleshoot common histology and tissue-quality issues

  • Comfortable learning and working with laboratory equipment and emerging technologies

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

  • Ability to follow established procedures while also looking for ways to improve them

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers, scientists, and other cross-functional team members

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience with automated histology or tissue-sectioning equipment

  • Experience with laboratory equipment testing or validation

  • Experience supporting product development or R&D activities

  • Experience in a pathology, histology, clinical laboratory, or research environment

  • Familiarity with quality systems, controlled documentation, and SOPs

  • Interest in robotics, automation, medical technology, or laboratory innovation

Why This Opportunity Is Different

This isn't a traditional Histotechnician position where you're simply processing specimens and moving on to the next case.

Your histology expertise will directly influence the development of new laboratory technology.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work alongside engineers, scientists, and R&D professionals

  • Use your histology knowledge to help develop and improve automated laboratory systems

  • Troubleshoot real-world tissue and sectioning challenges

  • See your feedback incorporated into product development

  • Gain exposure to robotics and laboratory automation

  • Build experience at the intersection of histology, pathology, and medical technology

  • Grow your career beyond the traditional laboratory environment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform repetitive laboratory tasks requiring manual dexterity and attention to detail

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods as needed

  • Ability to safely handle laboratory equipment, specimens, and laboratory materials

  • Ability to occasionally lift and move laboratory supplies or equipment in accordance with safety guidelines

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive hourly compensation: $30–$40/hour

  • Equity opportunities

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Employer-paid life and disability insurance

  • 401(k) with company contributions

  • HSA and FSA options

  • Generous PTO and paid holidays

  • Daily catered lunch

  • Commuter benefits

  • Employee wellness and assistance programs

  • Career growth and professional development opportunities

  • Collaborative, innovative, and mission-driven work environment
