    Baptist Health is hiring a HIM Specialist to join our Health Information Management team for Baptist Jacksonville (Downtown) Jacksonville, FL. This is a full-time day shift opportunity.

    The Health Information Management team supports the accuracy, accessibility, privacy, and integrity of patient health information. The HIM Specialist performs a variety of functions, including Release of Information (ROI), scanning medical records, and deficiency tracking to ensure patient information is processed accurately and timely while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and regulatory requirements.

    HIM Specialist Job Responsibilities:

    • Process requests for medical information from patients and continued-care requestors, ensuring appropriate authorization and adherence to HIPAA guidelines.
    • Ensure timely and accurate access to medical information while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
    • Retrieve, prepare, and scan medical information into the electronic medical record.
    • Review scanned documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, legibility, and data integrity.
    • Review appropriate documents within Emergency Department and outpatient encounters for physician completion.
    • Track outstanding documentation deficiencies and follow up to support timely completion in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
    • Maintain accurate records and follow established Health Information Management policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

    HIM Specialist Experience:

    • Required: 1-2 years of customer service experience.
    • Required: 1-2 years of clerical experience.
    • Preferred: Experience in Health Information Management, medical records, or a healthcare setting.

    HIM Specialist Education & Credential Requirements:

    • Required: High School Diploma.
    • Preferred: Certified Coding Associate (CCA).
    • Preferred: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
    • Preferred: Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P).
    • Preferred: Certified Documentation Improvement Professional (CDIP).
    • Preferred: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
    • Preferred: Certified Health Document Specialist (CHDS).
    • Preferred: Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS).
    • Preferred: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
    • Preferred: Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA).
