Job Posting: High School Swim Coach

Job Summary:
Perquimans County High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Head Swim Coach for our boys and/or girls'' swim team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student-athlete development, sportsmanship, and the educational mission of high school athletics as outlined by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA).
Essential Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and direct the operations of the high school swim team.
Conduct regular practices that emphasize skill development, teamwork, conditioning, and safety.
Provide leadership that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and ethical conduct.
Ensure compliance with all NCHSAA, school district, and school policies and eligibility rules.
Supervise athletes at practices, meets, and team-related events.
Coordinate with the athletic director, assistant coaches, and parents as needed.
Maintain accurate records for attendance, eligibility, and meet results.
Promote and maintain a positive team culture.
Qualifications:
Prior coaching experience in competitive swimming preferred (high school or club level).
Knowledge of NCHSAA rules, policies, and expectations.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before the start of the season).
NFHS "Fundamentals of Coaching" certification (must be completed before first practice).
Concussion Management and Heat Illness Prevention training (as required by NCHSAA).
Background check and approval by the school/district are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Lifeguard certification (recommended).
Experience mentoring student-athletes and fostering inclusive team environments.
