POSITION: High School Principal Administrative Assistant
Class B
SUMMARY: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the high school principal's
office in relation to the needs of the administration, staff, students, parents, and community so the
maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized. A vital part of this position is the
time spent servicing students, staff, and the community. The secretary is directly responsibl e to the high
school principal. The work year is 216 days.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required; degree from a business or community college preferred.
- Demonstrate expertise in the use of computers; extensive applied knowledge of word
processing, spreadsheet, database, and publishing applications.
- Be able to prioritize work schedule and be flexible.
- Ability to type 50 words per minute.
- Demonstrated dictation/shorthand proficiency.
- Excellent telephone and organizational skills.
- Congeniality in working and dealing with people of all ages.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Physically and emotionally able to take pressure.
- Ability to work independently and follow through with projects.
- Ability to work as part of an office team.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):
- Communicate in such a way as to convey a positive image of the school, its staff, and the
school district to the community.
- Responsible for preparing correspondence, memos, and weekly newsletters as requested
by the principal.
- Handle office telephone calls with efficiency and a professional attitude.
- Record minutes and attendance at all staff meetings, and other meetings as nee ded.
- Prepare and distribute school opening and closing materials.
- Prepare and assist with the orientations and pre-registration materials for new and returning
students.
- Work with the administrators in preparation and updates of the master schedule.
- Update and produce the student course curriculum guide.
- Work closely with administrative assistant to the curriculum director and assist College
Board assessments.
- Prepare and maintain the high school budget, including preparing purchase orders and
department budgets.
- Prepare and maintain high school master calendar for all building activities.
- Order and maintain inventory of bulk supplies for general and special education.
- Prepare non-instructional payroll.
- Maintain and monitor the use of office machines.
- Assist in the main office as needed.
- Plan luncheons and order refreshments as necessary.
- Attend graduation meetings and assist with yearly graduation ceremonies, including
ordering diplomas, medals.
- Serve as member of crisis response team.
- Maintain and update digital display board.
- Prepare and maintain the high school's activity accounts including all phases of
bookkeeping, ordering items, handling large sums of money, etc.
- Prepare and maintain the high school's media accounts including all phases of
bookkeeping, ordering items, etc.
- Prepare and maintain central media accounts including all phases of bookkeeping, etc.
Register students and collect money for PLAN, PSAT, and Advanced Placement tests
- Responsible for handling teacher payroll, sub slips, and paychecks.
- Maintain and prepare all student activity related bank accounts and records, including
handling large sums of cash.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the building administrators that are secretarial and/or clerical in
nature relative to the operation of the building.

8 hours per day
WORK YEAR: 2026 - 2027 School Year
Beginning November, 2026
COMPENSATION: Per WSEPA contract (starting at $20.81)
