    The North Plainfield School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and experienced leader to serve as the Head Girls Basketball Coach at North Plainfield High School.

    North Plainfield is a diverse and vibrant community committed to developing the whole child through academics, athletics, and extracurricular opportunities. Our athletic programs emphasize excellence, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and character development. We are seeking a coach who is passionate about building a comprehensive girls basketball program that supports student-athletes both on and off the court.

    Qualifications and Responsibilities

    • Previous basketball coaching experience at the high school level preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, skill development, game strategies, rules, and player development.
    • Ability to organize, lead, and oversee all aspects of the girls basketball program, including practices, games, offseason development, and program expectations.
    • Develop and implement effective practice plans focused on fundamentals, teamwork, conditioning, basketball IQ, and competitive growth.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to assistant coaches while establishing a unified program philosophy.
    • Create a positive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, accountability, commitment, leadership, discipline, and school pride.
    • Foster a program culture that reflects the district's core values of Caring, Appreciation, Respect, and Determination (C.A.R.D.).
    • Serve as a positive role model and mentor while supporting the academic, social, emotional, and athletic development of student-athletes.
    • Build strong relationships with student-athletes, families, school staff, administration, and the community.
    • Promote academic achievement and monitor student-athlete eligibility, attendance, and behavior expectations.
    • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, athletic administration, officials, and opposing programs.
    • Develop student-athletes through proper instruction, skill progression, conditioning, and competitive opportunities.
    • Establish and maintain strong feeder program connections with middle school and youth basketball programs to support long-term program growth.
    • Promote participation, retention, and a positive experience for all student-athletes within the basketball program.
    • Demonstrate strong leadership, organization, professionalism, and decision-making skills.
    • Ensure proper supervision and safety of student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team-related activities.
    • Manage team responsibilities including equipment, uniforms, inventory, schedules, and program needs in collaboration with the athletic department.
    • Follow all school district, conference, New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA), and athletic department policies, procedures, and expectations.
    • Attend required athletic department meetings, professional development opportunities, and coaching clinics as required.
    • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
    • Must meet all NJSIAA coaching certification requirements.

    Compensation

    Compensation will be in accordance with the applicable negotiated agreement.
