Position Overview
The High School Freshman Head Coach is responsible for introducing and developing ninth-grade student-athletes within the athletic program. The Freshman Head Coach emphasizes foundational skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and the transition into high school athletics. This role is essential in helping student-athletes establish habits, attitudes, and expectations that will support long-term success within the program and school community.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Freshman Volleyball Head Coach essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Organizes and supervise practices and competitions for the freshman team.
Teaches the fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies of the sport.
Establishes and reinforce standards of conduct, discipline, and teamwork.
Supports the overall philosophy and direction of the athletic program.
Helps student-athletes transition successfully into high school athletics and expectations.
Encourages academic responsibility and personal growth among student-athletes.
Communicates effectively with athletes, parents, and coaching staff.
Supervises athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and related activities.
Collaborates with upper-level coaches regarding athlete development and program alignment.
Assists with equipment management and administrative responsibilities as needed.
Promotes a positive and encouraging environment focused on growth and development.
