Work Schedule: 8:45 - 3:00 Monday - Friday, following the teacher calendar. Additional after-school and evening times required. Average of 36 hours per week.
Compensation: $18 to $21 per hour based on experience. Benefits included.
Position Summary
The Instructional Assistant for the Digital Media and Business/Marketing programs supports the classroom teacher in delivering hands-on instruction across two high-demand CTE pathways. This role involves assisting with technical media production (video, photography, graphic design) and business operations (marketing, entrepreneurship, finance). The assistant helps students develop industry-standard technical skills and workplace readiness while maintaining a safe, organized, and industry-standard learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the CTE instructor with daily classroom instruction, demonstrations, and project-based learning activities in both media and business labs.
- Reinforce lesson concepts after initial instruction and provide one-on-one or small-group assistance to students during complex projects.
- Support students in using industry software, including:
- Digital Media: Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator), DaVinci Resolve, and various design tools.
- Business/Marketing: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, Canva, social media management tools, and business simulation software.
- Help students operate and troubleshoot industry-standard equipment, including cameras, lighting, microphones, audio recorders, and computers.
- Reinforce classroom expectations, safety procedures, and district policies.
- Assist with video production, broadcasts, podcasts, photography, filming, editing, graphic design, and media publishing.
- Assist with marketing campaigns, market research, business plan development, school store management, inventory tracking, and customer service.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, field experiences, and media productions.
- Support students with diverse learning needs and implement accommodations as directed.
- Encourage professionalism, collaboration, creativity, and effective communication.
- Participate in department meetings, professional development, and school events as assigned.
- Assist with preparation for program events and support students participating in CTE student organizations (e.g., DECA, BPA, SkillsUSA).
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervising teacher or administrator.
Qualifications
- Experience in media production, communications, broadcasting, digital media, business operations, marketing, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications preferred.
- Experience working with high school students or youth programs preferred.
- Valid driver's license for off-campus events, if required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in camera operations, lighting, audio recording and digital editing techniques.
- Familiarity with business principles, marketing strategies, and professional communication.
- Knowledge of current media production technologies and/or business software applications.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and community partners.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout classrooms and production spaces.
- Ability to operate computers and audiovisual equipment for extended periods.
- Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to monitor classroom activities and media production equipment.
Working Conditions
- High school classroom, computer lab, television studio, and production environments.
- Occasional evening or weekend assignments for school productions, performances, or community events.
- Moderate noise levels associated with media production equipment and student activities.
