A day in this role
You start your shift with a digital pick list on your tablet. As orders flow in, you navigate high-bay aisles on a stand-up reach truck or order picker, selecting small components with accuracy and care. Each item is scanned, verified, and consolidated before staging for shipment. Throughout the day, you balance speed with precision, moving efficiently while maintaining safety—especially when working up to 20 feet above the floor on a cherry picker.
Core responsibilities
- Pick and consolidate small parts using a stand-up reach truck and/or an order picker.
- Use a tablet and handheld scanning system to locate, verify, and document inventory movements.
- Periodically perform high-bay picks with the reach truck or order picker, ensuring safe operation at height.
- Stage, organize, and prepare consolidated orders for downstream processing.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area while meeting productivity and accuracy targets.
Qualifications
- Forklift certification for stand-up reach truck and order picker.
- Working knowledge of tablet-based and barcode scanning equipment.
- Stand-up forklift and order picker experience preferred.
Physical and work environment
- Fast-paced warehouse setting with frequent use of tablets and scanners.
- Comfort operating an order picker/cherry picker up to approximately 20 feet above the ground.
- Frequent lifting and push/pull up to 50 lbs; occasional lifts up to 75 lbs.
- Extended periods of walking and standing on concrete floors for full shifts.
