Medical Oncology & Classical Hematology

The Cancer Institute is seeking a flexible, patient-centered Part-Time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our collaborative oncology team. This unique float position provides clinical support across both our Winston-Salem Comprehensive Cancer Center and regional satellite clinics throughout the Triad, including Thomasville, Greensboro, Kernersville, and Mt. Airy.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an APP who enjoys variety, autonomy, and teamwork while caring for patients across the continuum of cancer care. The position primarily supports outpatient medical oncology and classical hematology practices, with occasional inpatient hospital coverage as operational needs arise.

What You'll Do

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient care for patients with:
  • General Medical Oncology
  • Classical (Benign) Hematology
  • Perform patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage acute and chronic oncologic and hematologic conditions.
  • Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing and laboratory results.
  • Collaborate closely with medical oncologists, hematologists, nurses, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Participate in survivorship, symptom management, treatment monitoring, and supportive care.
  • Provide occasional inpatient hospital coverage based on departmental needs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care while maintaining high patient satisfaction.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current North Carolina NP or PA license (or eligibility)
  • National certification as an NP or PA
  • DEA registration (or eligibility)
  • Oncology or hematology experience preferred, but motivated APPs with strong internal medicine or hospital medicine backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
