CemeteryDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates backhoe and other heavy equipment in the operation of the Cemetery Department.
- Digs graves, places boxes, backfills graves, moves monuments, mixes concrete, installs foundations, empties barrels, plants flowers, trims shrubs, operates grass cutting equipment, rakes leaves, operates snow removal equipment, assists with funerals including transporting equipment to gravesites.
- Carries caskets to gravesites; installs covers on vault/liners.
- Performs safety checks on equipment and reports defects to supervisor.
- Checks gas, oil, and tires. Greases machines and maintains equipment in a clean manner.
- Performs all duties relative to the care and maintenance of the cemetery as directed by the Foreman and General Foreman.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS.
- Must possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's License
- Must possess a Class 2B Hoisting License
- Knowledge of and ability to operate all equipment involved in cemetery operations
- Must relate well with the general public
- A neat physical appearance is strongly encouraged
