Role snapshot
- Assist distributors and customers in rigging, diagnosing, and repairing Manitowoc Crane Group products.
- Safely support crane assembly and startup on diverse jobsites.
- Partner with Product Service Managers and distributors on setup, maintenance, and continued technical training for new models.
- Coordinate and execute investigations into customer-reported technical problems; implement corrective processes to avoid future issues.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting beyond local distributor or customer capabilities.
- Collaborate with MCG teams on service materials, product requirements, availability, and code compliance.
- Analyze problem reports to identify trends impacting design, production, service, and maintenance; recommend improvements.
- Complete detailed service documentation, timecards, and expense reports.
- Uphold a professional image and act with integrity as the company’s representative.
Where you’ll work
Location: Manitowoc, WI. You will report to the Field Service Manager and support customers and distributors across the region and worldwide.
Must-haves
- High school diploma plus 2+ years of mechanical/electrical experience; or a technical degree plus 1+ year of related experience.
- Technical service background; computer proficiency; ability to read and interpret technical drawings; strong written and verbal communication.
- Willingness and ability to learn to work with 480V electrical systems.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in all weather conditions.
- Availability for frequent travel—up to 75%—including international trips.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior crane experience.
- Hydraulic systems experience.
- Experience with heavy equipment, aircraft, or military vehicles/electronics.
