Hiring Need / Day to Day

Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, our client is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway Civil Estimator to join their team in Princeton, NJ.

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy highway and civil construction projects while collaborating closely with operations, project management, subcontractors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for heavy highway, roadway, bridge, earthwork, drainage, utility, and site development projects.
• Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, and contract documents.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Develop labor, equipment, and material pricing strategies.
• Assist with bid preparation, proposal development, and tender submissions.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
• Identify project risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure smooth project transitions following award.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
• Support multiple estimates and pursuits simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.

Profile

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (not absolutely necessary though based on experience).
• 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil, highway, transportation, or infrastructure construction.
• Strong understanding of DOT, municipal, and public works projects.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed cost estimates.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, Bluebeam, Agtek, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of New Jersey DOT projects is highly desirable.
