    Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM

    Road Safety Systems is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic to keep our fleet of construction and roadway safety equipment running safely and reliably.

    This is a hands-on, primarily shop-based position for someone who knows how to diagnose a problem, determine the root cause, and make the repair. You'll work on a variety of heavy equipment, trucks, and specialized machinery and play an important role in making sure our field crews have safe, reliable equipment ready to go.

    We're looking for someone with strong diesel, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting experience who can work independently and takes pride in doing the job right.

    What You'll Do

    • Diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, and specialized construction equipment

    • Troubleshoot diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems

    • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs

    • Diagnose equipment failures and determine the root cause of mechanical issues

    • Perform welding and light fabrication for equipment repairs and modifications

    • Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs quickly to minimize downtime

    • Complete service records, inspections, and work orders

    • Work with operations and field teams to keep equipment ready for upcoming projects

    • Safely operate forklifts and other shop equipment

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment

    • Provide occasional field support when needed

    What We're Looking For

    Required:

    • 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, construction equipment, diesel equipment, or similar machinery

    • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems

    • Welding and basic fabrication experience

    • Ability to independently diagnose and complete repairs

    • Valid driver's license and ability to meet CMV driver qualification requirements

    • Ability to obtain a CDL within the required timeframe if not already held

    • Dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods

    Preferred:

    • CDL Class A

    • Heavy equipment, diesel, or automotive technical training/certifications

    • CAT, Komatsu, or other OEM/manufacturer training

    • Experience maintaining construction, DOT, roadway, fleet, or specialty equipment

    • Experience working with equipment used in roadway or infrastructure construction

    Schedule & Work Environment

    Monday–Friday | 10:00 AM–6:00 PM

    This is an onsite position based in Folsom, New Jersey and is primarily shop-based, with occasional field support as needed.

    You'll work around heavy equipment and machinery in an active shop environment. Some outdoor work may be required in varying weather conditions.
