Description

LRI, a Waste Connections Company, is hiring a highly experienced HeavyEquipmentMechanic to join our team at our Hidden Valley Transfer Station site in Puyallup, Washington . This demanding, hands-on role is ideal for professionals who excel in high-responsibility environments and are committed to safety, reliability, and technical excellence.


Compensation & Schedule


+ Hourly Pay: $35.00–$40.00, based on experience and certifications

+ Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM

+ Overtime: Required as needed to meet operational demands


About the Role


This position involves complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a wide range of heavy diesel equipment. It is classified as safety-sensitive , meaning the work directly impacts the safety of personnel, equipment, and the public.


Key Responsibilities


+ Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy diesel and yellow ironequipment

+ Conductsafety inspectionsand ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards

+ Troubleshootand resolve issues from OperatorVehicle InspectionReports

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area

+ Communicate repair needs clearly and professionally

+ Follow all safety protocols and procedures without exception


Minimum Requirements


+ 5+ yearsof experience in heavyequipmentmaintenance and diesel repair

+ Strong knowledge ofyellow iron machinery,hydraulics, and diesel systems

+ Ability to lift up to75 lbsand work in physically demanding conditions

+ Must own and maintain a complete set ofprofessional-grade tools

+ Valid driver’s license with aclean MVR

+ Ability to read and interprettechnical manuals and schematics

+ High school diploma or GEDrequired

+ ASE certificationsor welding qualifications are preferred

+ Must be aself-startercapable of working independently

+ Safety-Sensitive: If offered the position, the candidate must pass all pre-employment screenings, including:

+ Background Check – Comprehensive criminal history screening

+ Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) – Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required

+ Drug Screening – Pre-employment drug test, including marijuana
