    Heavy Equipment Mechanic

    Location: Manvel, Texas
    Job Type: Full-Time |Hourly| Non-Exempt
    Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Saturday 8:30 AM–12:30 PM, with potential emergency on-call requirements

    Join Our Team

    We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will inspect, diagnose, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of heavy equipment, trucks, and machinery essential to our scrapyard operations. If you enjoy solving mechanical challenges, working with your hands, and keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently, we'd love to hear from you.

    What You'll Do

    • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy equipment, forklifts, trucks, balers, crushers, shredders, and other machinery.

    • Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.

    • Respond to emergency repair requests in both the shop and field.

    • Order and replace parts such as brakes, batteries, hydraulic components, tires, and electrical systems.

    • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.

    • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.

    • Collaborate with operators and management to ensure equipment remains safe and operational.

    What We're Looking For

    Required Qualifications:

    • Strong mechanical knowledge of engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment.

    • Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

    • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

    • Ability to work in physically demanding environments and various weather conditions.

    • Strong commitment to workplace safety.

    • Valid driver's license (preferred or required depending on duties).

    • Basic computer or mobile app experience for maintenance tracking is a plus.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working on heavy equipment in a scrapyard, construction, agricultural, or industrial setting.

    • Welding and fabrication experience.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Strong communication and recordkeeping skills.

    • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

    Work Environment

    Industrial recycling facility with exposure to:

    • Heavy machinery
    • Loud noise
    • Dust and outdoor elements
    • Varying temperatures

    PPE required at all times.
