Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Field & Shop - South Florida

BELMONT Search is a Construction and Infrastructure executive search firm. We recruit for contractors across South Florida, and on this position we are engaged by a Miami contractor to fill a permanent Heavy Equipment Mechanic position on its own payroll.

THE OPPORTUNITY

A Heavy Equipment Mechanic position with a Miami contractor that runs its own fleet on its own jobs. The position reports to the equipment manager, splits its week between field calls and the shop, and comes with a company service truck.

THE ROLE

Keeping the fleet available for the schedule the jobs are running to. When a machine goes down on a site, the call comes to you, and the repair is yours whether it is made in the field or brought back to the shop.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Hydraulic system diagnosis and repair, the largest part of the work
• Diesel engine diagnosis, repair and preventive maintenance
• Field service from a company truck across active job sites in Miami-Dade and Broward
• Shop work: scheduled service, component teardowns and rebuilds
• Excavators, loaders, telehandlers, skid steers and support trucks
• Service records and parts requests kept current for the equipment manager

QUALIFICATIONS

• Five or more years as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic, with hydraulics as a strength
• Field diagnosis without a lift and without a manual to hand
• Welding and fabrication experience is an advantage
• A commercial driver's license is an advantage and is not required

COMPENSATION

Pay of $38.00 to $50.00 an hour depending on experience, with a company truck, benefits and overtime.
