Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience working on a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, skid steers, and haul trucks. Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine equipment inspections.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures in the shop and in the field.
  • Complete repairs efficiently to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company standards.
  • Work closely with equipment managers and field personnel to prioritize repairs.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Experience working on construction equipment such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, Case, or similar brands.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment issues and perform repairs independently.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical or vocational training in diesel or heavy equipment repair.
  • ASE, CAT, John Deere, or other manufacturer certifications are a plus.
  • Experience performing both shop and field service repairs.
