Description

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Albemarle, NC. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of heavy construction equipment, vehicles, and machinery.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring that equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy construction equipment and company-owned vehicles.
Diagnose and troubleshoot engine, mechanical, and equipment-related issues.
Maintain and repair rock crushing equipment, earthmoving machinery, paving equipment, dump trucks, pickups, and other fleet vehicles.
Perform routine oil changes and replace essential fluids, filters, and other maintenance components.
Inspect equipment to identify potential mechanical problems before they result in costly downtime.
Use power tools, air tools, hand tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
Utilize voltage meters and other diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
Maintain accurate and organized maintenance practices.
Keep the shop, tools, and work areas clean, safe, and organized.
Complete repairs accurately and efficiently while meeting tight deadlines.
Follow all company safety procedures and industry standards.
Support equipment operations by responding to maintenance and repair needs in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Minimum 3+ years of experience working as a mechanic.
Experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, construction equipment, trucks, or similar machinery.
Valid and insurable driver's license with a clean driving record.
Strong ability to troubleshoot and diagnose engine and mechanical problems.
Proficiency with power, air, and hand tools.
Experience using shop equipment and mechanical tools.
Familiarity with welding processes.
Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting and experience using a voltage meter.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to prioritize tasks and complete quality repairs within tight timeframes.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
Willingness to work in a changing, fast-paced environment.
