Heavy-Duty Fleet Diesel Service Technician

Picture your first hour on the floor: you roll into a clean, well-equipped bay at NFI, fire up JPRO, and isolate an electrical fault on a dedicated tractor. By mid-morning, you’ve wrapped a PM on a trailer, documented a DOT inspection to FMCSA standards, and teamed up with a fellow tech to chase down a CAN-bus issue with OEM diagnostic software and a multimeter. It’s hands-on, it’s precise—and it keeps our customers’ freight moving.

Compensation and Perks

• Hourly pay: $25–$28 based on experience and certifications (expected 40 hours/week; average weekly pay $1,000–$1,120)

What You’ll Tackle

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical tractor/trailer issues using JPRO, OEM Diagnostic Software, multimeters, and Windows-based tools
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on tractors and trailers
• Complete DOT inspections per FMCSA guidelines
• Handle physical demands: lift/pull 75+ lbs, stand or lie for extended periods, and move flexibly to access equipment

What It Takes

• Valid driver’s license
• Preferred ability to obtain a Class B license
• Technical or advanced degree—or 2+ years of equivalent maintenance experience
• Comfort working with diagnostic platforms (JPRO, OEM tools), multimeters, and Windows
• Proven problem-solver with strong teamwork, customer service, and communication skills
• On-site evaluation with recommended training
