Heavy Civil Highway Estimator

 

Our client, a well-established heavy civil construction and paving contractor, is hiring an Estimator in the Gary, IN area. The company self-performs highway construction, asphalt paving, concrete, bridges, excavation and underground utilities across the Midwest. This is a confidential search.

 

What you'll do:

- Prepare complete estimates and bids for DOT, municipal and private heavy civil work

- Perform quantity takeoffs and build crew, equipment and material pricing

- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes

- Review plans, specs and bid documents, and attend pre-bid meetings

- Hand off awarded work to operations and support project buyout

 

What we're looking for:

- Estimating experience with a heavy civil, highway or paving contractor

- Strong takeoff and pricing skills for earthwork, paving, concrete and utilities

- Familiarity with DOT bid processes and estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid or similar a plus)

- Detail oriented with strong communication skills

 

Compensation:

- Salary of $90,000 to $130,000, with room to go higher for an exceptional candidate
