Proficiency in fundamental heat transfer and fluid dynamic analyses "hand-calculations" and a good understanding of practical design limitations.
Awareness of turbomachinery cycle performance drivers and trade factors.
Experience in computational simulations including conjugate CFD modeling, finite element modeling and correlation with experimental testing is desirable.
Experience with Python, Fortran or other programming skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills: experience integrating work in a team and interfacing with customers.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:
BS in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 2+ years of applied industry experience in fluid or thermal design and analysis, OR Masters in a related field.
Gas turbomachinery experience preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Office and/or manufacturing environment.
Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones, rotating wrist, using tools/equipment).

Essential Job Functions:
Uses computer-aided design and analysis tools to perform complex engineering tasks.
Responsible for optimizing the rotor thrust balance systems.
Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new or modified assemblies and components.
Determine cooling designs for electronic, combustor and turbine components.
Responsible for evaluating and optimizing the secondary flow and leakages.
Documents changes through a formal engineering change notification process.
Learns to use professional concepts.
Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
Works on problems of limited scope.
Builds stable working relationships internally.
Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.
Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements
Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.
