    Job Summary:
    The Healthcare Support Specialist is one of the primary points of contact for the medical office. The Healthcare Support Specialist helps coordinate the care of the patients and serves as a liaison with the patient, medical staff, and provider of care. 

    Key Responsibilities: 
    • Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phone. 
    • Registers walk-in new patients and updates and verifies existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information, including personal and insurance or financial information. 
    • Checks patients in through intake facilitating patient flow by notifying the provider of the patient’s arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff. 
    • Schedules in house MRI’s and referrals.  
    • Scheduling and rescheduling of future patient appointments. 
    • Collecting patient copays, coinsurances, and allowable payments and reconciling these payments at the end of each day in your daily batch ledger. 
    • Verifying Insurance 
    • Prepping Clinic Schedules  
    • Responds to patients, prospective patients, and visitors' inquiries courteously. 
    • Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. 
    • Keeps office supplies within the clinic adequately stocked by anticipating inventory. 
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Education & Experience: 
    • High school diploma or equivalent 
    • Medical Experience Preferred 
    • 6 months, plus of relevant experience scheduling in a medical office environment 
    • Experience working with medical EHR, Athena experience preferred. 
    • Experience in Orthopedics or Pain Management is a plus 
     
    Work Environment & Physical Requirements:  
    • Travel to cover different locations may be required 
    • Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time 
    • Able to lift 25 pounds or more
