Salary: Per assignment and individual contract; base rate of pay is $20.00 per hour. Salary will be commensurate with experience of the successful candidate and qualifications as determined by the Superintendent of Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:

  • Highly Qualified: Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or ETS Paraprofessional Assessment required; degree specific to healthcare preferred

  • Current health certification or licensure in a health-related field preferred such as: LPN, RN, CNA, Medical Assistant, EMT, or other comparable health-care credential or experience

  • Knowledge of childhood academic, social and physical development; knowledge of basic health and wellness practices and common medical conditions affecting school-aged children; knowledge of developmental, behavioral and/or physical disabilities

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in a health-care, educational, or community setting preferred

  • Ability to administer or assist with medications and health procedures in accordance with physician orders, district policies, applicable laws, and health plans

  • Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to medical emergencies and unexpected health situations

  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student health records

  • Exercise sound, independent judgment, including handling of confidential matters

  • Physical ability to safely lift students as needed: 50 pounds, or up to 100 pounds with assistance and/or with proper equipment

  • Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, stand for extended periods of time, and push and pull heavy objects such as wheelchairs

  • Willing to complete further training as needed, including but not limited to disability related information - job specific training will be provided as available

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team; strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must pass background check
