Job Title: Healthcare Data Analyst(Hybrid)

Duration: Contract Long term

Shift hours: Position works 8:00am-4:30pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and two 15-minute breaks

 

Job Duties:

  • The Healthcare Data Analyst will support the PA-WISE Healthy Hearts and Pennsylvania Violent Death Reporting System programs with data analysis, cleaning, coding, and dissemination.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Health Informatics, Biostatistics, or a related field.
    Minimum of two (2) years of experience conducting exploratory data analysis involving data manipulation, report generation, and visualization (tables, charts, maps, etc.).
    Demonstrated experience creating SQL queries and using SAS and /or R software is required.
  • This position is primarily responsible for using data from multiple sources to examine factors related to cardiovascular health and violent deaths in Pennsylvania using SQL queries and SAS.


Responsibilities: 

  • Use Statistical Analysis System (SAS) software and Structured Query Language (SQL) to develop coding to extract and analyze cardiovascular health and fatality data for quality and completeness, performance measure reporting, service provider management, and program quality improvement initiatives. 
  • Code, format, edit, and enter data into a web-based violent death database using national guidelines. 
  • Prepare detailed data documentation for all SQL queries and SAS Programs so other staff can use them. 
  • Collaborate with program staff to conduct advanced data analysis to document program impact. 
  • Use the Plan-Do-Check-Act and other quality improvement tools and confirm compliance with program protocols and guide program improvements. 
    Assist with data dissemination and visualization through preparation of fact-based reports, including tables, graphs, and narratives. 
  • Perform monthly analysis, cleaning, and validation of PA-WISE and PAVDRS data to ensure data quality issues are identified and resolved so data is compliant with program protocols and mandatory data submissions to the CDC are accurate. 
  • Provide technical assistance by explaining data quality issues and resolutions to program staff, contractors, and other data users.
  • Analyze related state and national data to describe populations served, community needs, and program outcomes. 
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal confidentiality, including HIPAA and HITECH, regulations/laws. 
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with ArcGIS, Microsoft Visio, Power-Bi or other data analysis/visualization software is a plus. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
