Description

Healthcare Authorization Specialist
We are currently seeking candidates for a Healthcare Authorization Specialist position with a highly respected Boston, MA hospital recognized for exceptional patient care and innovative medical research. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career candidates with a background in Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field looking to begin their careers in healthcare operations, patient access, insurance authorization, or hospital administration.

This is a 3–6-month contract-to-hire opportunity paying $20–$22 per hour. The position is fully remote; however, candidates must currently reside in New England.

Candidates must be located in one of the following states to be considered: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island.

Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-registration for new patients by making and receiving calls to collect and document patient demographics, financial information, and other required personal information.
  • Verify patient identification and update insurance or demographic information as needed.
  • Manage referral and authorization information for assigned patients.
  • Communicate with physicians and other medical providers to clarify clinical information when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of daily activities within the hospital information system.
  • Support departmental operations and contribute to a positive patient experience through professional communication, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Biology, or a related healthcare field preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare administration, health insurance, medical policy review, nursing, allied health, or a related environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Epic is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to handle confidential patient information professionally.
  • Must currently reside in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island.
