About the Facility – VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHCS)
The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System serves over 230,000 veterans in the Las Vegas metropolitan area and is part of the VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21). The main medical center, located at 6900 N. Pecos Road in North Las Vegas, is a state-of-the-art facility offering comprehensive medical, surgical, and mental health services. The Radiology Service features advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities including CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology. VASNHCS provides healthcare professionals with access to cutting-edge equipment, a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, and the opportunity to serve those who served our country.

Health Technician (Radiology) – Responsibilities
  • Assist radiologic technologists and radiologists with patient preparation, positioning, and transport for diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Escort patients to and from imaging areas; ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout all interactions
  • Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation as required during and after procedures
  • Prepare examination rooms and imaging suites; stock supplies, maintain cleanliness, and ensure equipment readiness
  • Assist with contrast media preparation and administration under the direction of licensed technologists or physicians
  • Maintain and clean reusable medical equipment (RME) in accordance with infection control policies; achieve and maintain annual RME certification
  • Transport specimens, records, and imaging media between departments as needed
  • Perform basic clerical duties including data entry, appointment coordination, and telephone support for the Radiology Service
  • Maintain emergency equipment including crash carts, oxygen, and suction apparatus; ensure readiness for use
  • Adhere to all safety protocols including radiation safety, infection control, and universal precautions

Health Technician (Radiology) – Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a health technician training program or equivalent military training preferred
  • Current BLS/BCLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6 months of clinical support experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of basic patient care techniques, vital signs monitoring, and medical terminology
  • Ability to lift and position patients; physical stamina for extended periods of standing and walking
  • VA or federal healthcare experience preferred but not required
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Overtime and on-call may be required as assigned.
