This position is a combination of medical office management, administrative coordination of clinical services and assistance to the division manager. You will work in the administrative section of Health Services at the Detention Center. This is an extremely busy division where multiple in-house clinics and contract employees provide healthcare to the inmate population. The health services supervisor leads and coordinates daily work activities of administrative support staff in the department; confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with staff members, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise; assists with training and instructing employees regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; and assists with supervision of employees by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations. The person filling this position also maintains records and prepares new employee paperwork, reviews timesheets and performs documentation for personnel and payroll processes. HR records to include new hire paperwork and training records along with certification statuses are also maintained by the health services supervisor. A significant portion of work pertains to financial management including reviewing invoices, submission for payment and managing requisitions. There is frequent research involved in the hospital and inmate billing processes. The health services supervisor also provides administrative support for management as well as managing clinic calendars. The health services supervisor is actively involved in the recruiting, interviewing and hiring process for all Health Services staff members. The health services supervisor is expected to be well versed in both written and verbal communications as they will participate in many interactions with internal and external agencies. Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines is a necessity. Must be able to multitask and operate office equipment. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office to include Excel and be comfortable with navigating an electronic health record. this is a supervisory position with administrative support staff as direct reports and frequent interaction and coordination with clinical staff. If the health services supervisor is properly licensed or certified, they may also work in a clinical capacity as needed. This position also performs many customer service functions to include providing information and assistance regarding department/division services, activities, procedures, fees, or other issues; distributing forms/documentation as requested; responding to routine and complex questions or complaints; researching problems/complaints; and initiating problem resolution. Associate degree in administrative services, business or healthcare related field; supplemented by two years of experience providing routine administrative/clerical support in area of assignment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory capacity with preference given to those with experience in healthcare. Must have a valid South Carolina Driver"s License.
