Location: Des Plains, IA | Payrate: $30.00 /hour | Schedule: 1st shift - Contract to Hire Position

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in industrial technology, to hire a Health Safety Assistant. In this onsite role, you’ll help maintain accurate chemical inventories, safety data, and compliance records that support safe and efficient R&D and manufacturing operations across Des Plaines and McCook, Illinois. 

What You’ll Do 

• Manage large-scale chemical inventories and ensure accurate, timely updates. 

• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) using Velocity EHS. 

• Support SAP processes for materials management and chemical tracking. 

• Apply HMIS classifications and assist with hazard assessments. 

• Support HSE professionals with compliance and system-management activities. 

• Research and apply evolving HSE regulations and best practices. 

• Help identify issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. 

• Maintain accurate records while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. 

• Report onsite to both Des Plaines and McCook locations as needed. 

Required Qualifications 

• Working knowledge of OSHA Hazard Communication, GHS labeling, and SDS interpretation. 

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

• Quick learner who adapts to new systems and processes. 

• Highly reliable, self-driven, and professionally disciplined. 

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, information systems, engineering, environmental science, or a related field—or equivalent experience. 

• Interest in HSE systems and regulatory compliance. 

• Passion for workplace safety and environmental stewardship. 

• Strong collaboration and business acumen.

Pay Details: $30.00 per hour
