    Job Title: Health Room Assistant FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Exec. Director of Student Services Classification: Classified-PSE Directed by: Registered Nurse Supervises: None Work Year: School Year Salary: As Stated in Schedule Position Summary: Provides direct support in the health room. Qualifications Required:

    • Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
    • High School diploma or GED/equivalent.
    • Good knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, data entry, email , and calendar software.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Detail oriented; possess strong initiative and excellent organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication in the English language, including correct grammar and spelling usage.
    • Legally eligible to work for any employer in the United States of America as verified by Form I-9.
    • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federa l Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance. Qualifications Desired:
    • Previous experi ence in a public school setting or related learning/development environment.
    • Demonstrated skill in working successfully with students and adults.
    • Health care training and experience. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

      1. Provides health room services in accordance with established District policies, procedures, state laws, and Health Services protocols.
      2. Provides basic first aid for students.
      3. Attends to stud ent short term health needs and in discussion with Registered Nurse, determines course of action.
      4. Notifies parents in times of student accident or illness.
      5. Monitors students in the health room.
      6. Maintains confidential student health records and creates new student health records as required by legal standards.

        Health Room Assistant 2

        1. Dispenses certain studen t medication and keeps medication logs as allowable by state law.
        2. Assists with and helps coordinate vision and hearing screenings.
        3. Attends Kindergarten registration and assists in managing health records.
        4. Completes daily and monthly automated external defi brillator (AED) checks; orders replacement equipment as needed.
        5. Maintains inventory of supplies for health room and prepares supply orders for health rooms as needed.
        6. Compiles first aid kits for classrooms; organizes first aid kits and medications for field trips; aids Registered Nurse in preparing for camps.
        7. Listens to student's personal concerns as they relate to health, physical abuse , or substance abuse. Reports situations to appropriate administrator or Registered Nurse for follow-up as necessary.
        8. In conjunction with the registered nurse, compiles health lists for the health room, transportation office, after school programs, and pertinent school staff.
        9. When Registered Nurse is not on site, the H ealth Room Assistant will communicate with Registered Nurse via phone and will include onsite administrator in communications.
        10. Able to be flexible and adjust to schedule, including school assignments and work hours. Nonessential Skills and Experience:

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.           • Physical Demands- Majority of the time spent standing, sitting, walking around the health room; working on the computer and/or on the phone; some time walking to other classrooms and playground; reach with hands or arms; balance; stoop/bend; talk and hear; may lift up to 60 lbs.
          • Work Environment- Health room is shared office space with carpeting and well lit and low to high noise level, with single use bathroom, handicapped accessible; conditions can vary outside of health room; potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens-requires applicable PPE gloves, eye wear, etc. Performance Standards: The person in this position wil l be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the district policy on evaluation of classified employees. Approval/Revision Date: November 7, 2023 General Sign-off: The employee is expected to adhere to all Snoqualmie Valley School D istrict policies and procedures.
