Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawaii's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawaii's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapiolani. The hospital is home to the Kapiolani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapiolani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

Health Information Services (HIS) processes patient medical records and releases health information to patients, physicians, and other outside facilities for treatment, payment, or review. HIS is the custodian and gatekeeper for privacy of the organization's medical records and also generates the coding procedures for data collection, research, and reimbursement. With the widespread computerization of health records and other information sources, including hospital administration functions and health human resources information, health informatics and health information technology are being increasingly used in the health care sector.

If you have outstanding customer service and communication skills, you could be the ideal candidate for our Health Records Representative position. In this role, you will respond to patient records requests and inquiries in a helpful, friendly and professional manner; provide patient information; assist patients with birth/death certificates and submission of information to the Hawaii State Department of Health, always complying with policies to safeguard the confidentiality of patient information. We are looking for someone who is comfortable managing confidential data management and shares our commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai'i's people.
